Luxembourg author Percy Lallemang has published a new book, "In the Land of the Blind", a crime thriller which is the first English-language novel to feature in the Crime.lu collection.
Percy Lallemang was born in Pétange in south-western Luxembourg in 1970. He taught English for eighteen years and served as president of the British Luxembourg Society for eight years and is the author of “The Mortal Coil” (2019), a series of award-winning thriller screenplays, and ”Nightscapes” (2024), a collection of fantastical tales.
Speaking to Chronicle.lu, the author detailed that his new book started out as a short story in the form of a letter addressed to a Europol investigator written by a serial killer who is obsessed with removing the eyes of his victims and who has been "operating" all over Europe.
Percy Lallemang explained: “At first ‘In the Land of the Blind’ was meant to be part of a short story collection, but it had grown into a novel while I was writing it and it is now a single book. There is a bonus short crime story added at the end also set in Luxembourg in the 1980s. I love the genre and have been writing almost exclusively crime thrillers lately.”
He added: “I consequently did some research into said states, the functioning and structure of Europol, the way a profiler looks into a diseased psychopathic mind and eye diseases and their treatments. New ideas and twists kept piling up during the writing process, like a set-piece scene inside a restaurant where customers are blindfolded.”
Speaking of his publishing relationship with Luxembourg-based literary project and publishing label Crime.lu, he remarked: “I had contacted the highly motivated team behind Crime.lu publishers, who specialise in crime fiction and were on the lookout for new manuscripts in languages other than German and French, and they immediately loved my book which is their very first publication in English. They also have two more of my manuscripts lined up.”
He noted: “A good friend and avid reader who is a teacher of English as well as my wife who also reads mostly English books did the initial proofreading and I am very grateful to them, as I am for the support and back-up of Monique Feldgen, Gaston Zangerlé and Pierre Decock of Crime.lu who all are also authors of crime fiction.”
"In the Land of the Blind" is available in Luxembourg bookstores from Thursday 22 January 2026 and can be ordered online in advance at the Ernster, Amazon and Crime.lu websites.
Percy Lallemang will be signing copies of the book at the Ernster: All English Bookstore in Luxembourg-Ville on Saturday 24 January 2026 from 11:00 to 12:00. He will also feature at a crime night event taking place at Trifolion in Echternach on Saturday 14 February 2026, where the author will read excerpts from the book.
