On Wednesday 5 August 2026, the Grand Ducal Police renewed their warning about fraudsters posing as police officers after receiving repeated reports of this type of scam.
According to the police, one such incident occurred on 4 May 2026 at around 16:30, when a French-speaking man posing as a police officer visited a residential address on Montée de Nommern in Schieren.
The police stressed that this is not how officers operate in Luxembourg. They reminded the public that every police officer can identify themselves and speaks Luxembourgish.
The Grand Ducal Police also encouraged people to raise awareness of this type of fraud among elderly relatives, friends and neighbours.
