On Sunday 27 September 2026, the Grand Ducal Police reported two road-related incidents in southern Luxembourg including a suspected drink-driving case in Aspelt and an accident involving a modified e-scooter in Reckange-sur-Mess.
Shortly before 13:00, police received a report of a vehicle driving erratically along Munnereferstrooss in Aspelt. Officers located the driver at their home address a short time later. As the individual showed clear signs of alcohol consumption, police carried out a breathalyser test, which returned a positive result.
The police subsequently confiscated the driver’s licence, issued a temporary driving ban and drew up an official report.
Later that day, at around 17:40, a teenager lost control of an e-scooter and fell while riding with a group of teenagers in Rue Jean-Pierre Hilger in Reckange-sur-Mess.
Emergency services treated the teenager at the scene before transporting them to hospital for further treatment.
During a subsequent inspection, police found that the e-scooter had been technically modified and could potentially reach a maximum speed that did not comply with applicable regulations. On the orders of the public prosecutor's office, police confiscated the vehicle.
Officers also inspected several other e-scooters used by the group and found that some had technical modifications that did not comply with legal requirements. Police secured or confiscated the vehicles concerned and launched further investigations.
In addition, police warned that modified e-scooters pose significant risks, particularly when they can reach speeds above legal limits. They reminded road users to use only e-scooters that comply with applicable regulations on public roads.
