On Tuesday 3 February 2026, the Laboratoire national de santé (LNS - national health laboratory) announced that it and its director had parted ways by mutual agreement.
In a press release, the Board of Directors of the LNS announced that Dr Stéphane Gidenne, director of the LNS since early 2025, had decided, by mutual agreement with the Board, to pursue a new direction in his professional career.
In order to ensure the continuity of operations and the stability of the institution, the Board of Directors said it had established a robust and qualified transitional management structure composed of Chief Finance and Administration Officer Safaâ Moujahid and Chief Operating Officer Dr Thomas Dentzer. They will be supported in their responsibilities by the Board of Directors, which expressed its full confidence in them.
The LNS confirmed that a recruitment process has now been initiated to fill the position of director and wished Dr Gidenne every success in his future endeavours
