On Friday 17 April 2026, Luxembourg-based microfinance institution Microlux reported that in 2025 it continued its growth, granting 50 new microcredits to support entrepreneurial projects across the country.
Microlux detailed that since its creation in 2016, it has reached several key milestones:
- 322 entrepreneurs supported in Luxembourg with a microcredit;
- more than €5 million in financing granted;
- 550 jobs created and sustained through supported activities.
According to Microlux, these figures reflect not only financial support but also the development of sustainable businesses and the integration of entrepreneurs into the local economy. In a context where honour loans are playing an increasing role in strengthening start-up equity, the organisation noted that it continues to adapt its tools to meet the needs of project holders.
In 2025, Microlux also strengthened its support services by recruiting a dedicated staff member and integrating new volunteers, aiming to improve guidance and increase the chances of success for microentrepreneurs.
The year was also marked by several initiatives to raise the visibility of supported businesses, including the third edition of the MyMicrobusiness competition, held at BGL BNP Paribas, which rewarded four winners. Additional markets and events, notably at Belle Etoile and with partners such as The Human Safety Net Luxembourg and Foyer, provided further opportunities to showcase entrepreneurial activities.
Microlux also confirmed that it conducted a second impact study between late 2025 and early 2026, with results expected to be published soon.
As it approaches its tenth anniversary, which will be marked by the issuance of a commemorative stamp by POST Luxembourg, Microlux highlighted the strength of its cooperative model, bringing together private, public and European partners to support its mission.
