On Wednesday 3 June 2026, Luxembourg's Roads Administration announced that the A4 motorway between the Merl roundabout and the Cessange interchange in the direction of Esch-sur-Alzette will be closed from Friday 5 until Monday 8 June 2026.
The administration advised that the resurfacing works will take place from approximately 20:00 on Friday 5 June until approximately 05:00 on Monday 8 June.
As part of the works, the A4 motorway in the direction of Esch-sur-Alzette will be closed between the Merl roundabout and the Cessange interchange. Access to the motorway will be restricted and diversion routes with appropriate signage will be put in place.
The following access point will be closed:
• the entrance from the Merl roundabout onto the A4 motorway in the direction of Esch-sur-Alzette.
Road users wishing to access the A4 motorway towards Esch-sur-Alzette will be diverted via the N56, N4, CR231, the Hesperange interchange, the A3 motorway towards Metz, the Gasperich interchange, the A6 motorway towards Belgium and the Cessange interchange.
As preparatory works required for the motorway closure will be carried out several hours before the start of the works, traffic disruptions are expected from late Friday afternoon.
