The municipality of Esch-sur-Sûre has announced the appointment of Mireille Welter as its new mayor.

At its meeting on Monday 19 January 2026, the municipal council elected Mireille Welter to succeed Laurent Hilger, who announced his resignation in December 2025 for health reasons.

Jenny Schank will continue to serve as first alderwoman, while former municipal councillor Jeannot Sanavia will succeed Mireille Welter as second alderman.

The new appointments will take effect after the swearing-in of Mireille Welter and Jeannot Sanavia, in accordance with the relevant legal provisions.
