Luxembourg's national railway company, the CFL, has announced that trains will be replaced by buses on several routes due to a control centre update taking place overnight on Friday 11 to Saturday 12 July 2025.
To enable the Luxembourg control centre to control and monitor new railway infrastructure (switches, signals, etc.), installed as part of the adaptation projects for Luxembourg Railway Station (Gare) and the Howald interchange, a computer update of the control centre will be carried out from 22:00 on Friday until 04:00 on Saturday.
During this operation, which the CFL described as essential to continue to guarantee the safety of train traffic to and from Luxembourg Gare, all trains will be replaced on the following sections:
- between Luxembourg and Mersch (Luxembourg – Ettelbruck – Troisvierges – Gouvy line);
- between Luxembourg and Oetrange (Luxembourg – Wasserbillig – Trier line);
- between Luxembourg and Bertrange (Luxembourg – Kleinbettingen – Arlon line);
- between Luxembourg and Bettembourg (Luxembourg – Esch-sur-Alzette – Rodange and Luxembourg – Thionville – Metz lines);
- between Luxembourg and Dippach-Reckange (Luxembourg – Bascharage-Sanem – Rodange – Athus and Luxembourg – Bascharage-Sanem – Rodange – Longwy lines).
Other trains will run normally and according to the scheduled timetable.
The CFL invited passengers to check details of replacement buses before making their journey at www.cfl.lu or via the CFL or Mobiliteit.lu mobile applications.
