On Friday 12 September 2025, SES, a Luxembourgish space solutions company, announced the launch of a new brand following its recent merger with Intelsat, creating one of the world’s largest satellite operators.

According to SES, the rebranding centres on the purpose statement “Space to Make a Difference,” accompanied by the new corporate tagline “Solve. Empower. Soar.” The company noted that these reflect its mission and ambitions within the satellite industry.

“Through customer surveys conducted leading up to the merger, it came out clear that they need more than satellite connectivity,” said Adel Al-Saleh, CEO of SES. “They need a space solutions partner with the scale to reach the world and the ambition to redefine what’s possible - delivering on promises that move the space industry forward.”

According to SES, the merger created a company with nearly 90 geostationary (GEO) and 30 medium earth orbit (MEO) satellites, as well as strategic access to low earth orbit (LEO) satellites. The operator also manages the largest fibre network among satellite providers, offering global access through 150 owned and partner teleports and 50 points of presence (PoPs). The company noted that its stronger financial profile will allow annual investments in emerging segments and new technologies to support growth in new markets.

SES explained that its new identity draws inspiration from the Northern Lights, with purple chosen as the main colour to symbolise “experience, unity and innovation.” The updated branding includes lowercase italicised letters and a circular icon called The Orb, which features three interlocking circles representing SES’s multi-orbit positioning interconnected with its ground network.

The company added that these elements reflect its ambition to provide resilient, secure and adaptable connectivity through an “open architecture” approach that underlines its commitment to partnership and collaboration.

Mr Al-Saleh commented: “Space technology changes lives every day, but our industry makes it seem intimidating and complex. Our new identity is a bold promise to transform space into a seamless, accessible part of the global ecosystem - where complexity is simplified, integration is straightforward, and our customers can grow and thrive.”
