On Tuesday 23 September, Cactus group announced that it will inaugurate a new multifunctional shopping centre in Esch/Lallange on Wednesday 29 October 2025.
According to Cactus, the core of the project is a modern supermarket with 7,000 m² of sales space, complemented by a Drink Shop, a shopping arcade of fifteen shops, 800 parking spaces spread across six levels and 67 apartments. The group noted that with an investment of around €150 million, the project sends a strong signal for the region and will create more than 150 new direct and indirect jobs (50 at Cactus and 100 in the shopping arcade).
Laurent Schonckert, Managing Director of the Cactus group, stressed: “In Lallange, we are not only opening a shopping centre, but a place that meets today’s needs and is built for Esch tomorrow. We are proud to support the city’s development and create a meeting point for all generations.”
The company noted that at the heart of the new store is a fresh food section, complemented by fruit and vegetables and an expanded organic range. It will also offer a wide selection ranging from fresh produce to non-food items and household appliances.
According to Véronique Schmitt of the Cactus group, the Esch/Lallange outlet reflects the company’s focus on its production sites, cooperation with regional partners and products from Luxembourg agriculture. The range will also include a new convenience concept and Cactus catering services.
In addition to the supermarket, the shopping arcade will host 15 other retailers. Among them are partners such as Cocottes, 5àSec, Ferber hair&style, k-kiosk, Acuitis, Mister Minit, Black & White and the TGL Travel Luxembourg group. New players will also join, including Oberweis, CK Fitness, Frups, Medi-Market and Lucky Bar. The Hëllef Doheem Foundation will set up offices there, while the L’Enfant Roi crèche will also be part of the centre. This variety will offer visitors access to gastronomy, health, services and leisure alongside traditional grocery shopping.
The project has been developed since spring 2020, based on plans by the architectural office Beiler / François / Fritsch. The construction works were carried out by the group LUXTP, Poeckes, CDCL and Félix Giorgetti.
