POST Luxembourg has announced it will issue a special edition of stamps to mark the future Grand Duke Guillaume's accession to the throne on Friday 3 October 2025.
To offer Luxembourg artists the opportunity to contribute to the visual representation of these philatelic creations, POST Luxembourg launched a design competition in collaboration with the non-profit organisation Design Friends. The winning projects were selected in consultation with the Maison du Grand-Duc.
Stamp block
Designed by Jill Els, this block is intended to be a "symbolic account" of Grand Duke Guillaume's accession, retracing the key stages of his life / career: his family, his attachment to nature, his international responsibilities and his Scouting commitment. With its golden accents, the souvenir sheet symbolises the beginning of a new historical era for the Grand Duchy, noted POST Luxembourg.
Stamp sheet with decorated edges
The sheet, designed by Lea Schroeder, "illustrates the transmission of a dynasty that resonates with Luxembourg's fundamental values: continuity, unity and proximity." The portrait of the Grand Ducal couple is complemented by symbols such as the Gëlle Fra (Golden Lady), the Grand Ducal Palace and the Luxembourg flag.
Philatelic set
For stamp collectors and enthusiasts, POST Luxembourg is also offering an exclusive philatelic set containing the stamp block and sheet in a special collector's kit.
The block and sheet will be available from Friday 3 October in all Espaces POST and post offices, at the Philatelic Counter (Espace POST Luxembourg-Gare) and in the POST Philately online shop: www.postphilately.lu.
The philatelic set will be available exclusively (from the same date) in the Espaces POST Luxembourg-Centre and Luxembourg-Gare, as well as via the online shop.
