From Friday 6 to Sunday 8 June 2025, Swimming Luxembourg (SL) hosted the second weekend of the 32nd edition of the SL Synchro Cup Open, an artistic swimming competition held at Campus Geesseknäppchen in Luxembourg-Merl.

This year’s competition brought together 195 participants from sixteen clubs representing Luxembourg, Belgium, Germany, the Czech Republic and Malta. The athletes were divided into two age categories: Beginners and 12 & Under, comprising swimmers born between 2010 and 2018.

"On this second weekend, we had beginner swimmers, meaning they only started in September [2025], and we had twelve [year old] and under swimmers. So on the first day [Saturday 7 June 2025], we had the figures competition for beginners. And for the twelve [year old] swimmers, that is the technical part of the sport – we need those scores to be able to define who will swim the routine, the choreographies. So on the first day, we had in the afternoon the first routines of the beginners and of the twelve [year olds], and today [Sunday 8 June 2025] there were only twelve and under swimmers competing," stated Sonja Tholl, Coach and Assistant to the Organiser of the SL Synchro Cup Open, in an interview with Chronicle.lu.

In the Beginners category, the best performances were determined across two disciplines: Figures and Team Combined. In the Figures event, victory went to Mila Sokolova (Brugse Zwemkring), who scored 48.7581 points. Margaux Mertens of Swimming Luxembourg, representing the host club, finished in fourth place with a score of 48.1237.In the Team Combined discipline in this age category, the top spot went to swimmers from Royal Castor Club Mons (Belgium), who achieved a score of 123.0774.
