Luxembourg’s Cyber Risk Evaluation Cell (CERC) has confirmed that an incident occurred on the network of the telecommunications operator Proximus Luxembourg on Tuesday 5 August 2025, between 05:20 and 09:34.
During this time, the operator’s network experienced disruptions. As a result, some Proximus Luxembourg customers might have had difficulty contacting emergency services 112 and 113.
After a meeting of the CERC to analyse the impact of the incident and determine next steps, Proximus Luxembourg confirmed that a hardware failure on a network switching device caused the disruption. The operator also confirmed that it had restored all services and formally ruled out a cyberattack as the cause of the failure.
The CERC said that emergency numbers 112 (CGDIS) and 113 (Police) remained fully operational at all times.
