On Tuesday 20 May 2025, the Luxembourg Tennis Federation (Fédération Luxembourgeoise de Tennis - FLT) announced the selection of players by team captain Claudine Schaul for the upcoming Billie Jean King Cup.

The Luxembourg women’s team will compete in Europe Group III of the Billie Jean King Cup from Monday 16 to Saturday 21 June 2025 at the Chisinau Arena Tennis Club in Moldova, facing eleven other teams: Albania, Andorra, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Finland, Ireland, Iceland, Malta, Moldova, Montenegro and San Marino.

For these matches, 41-year-old team captain Claudine Schaul has selected Marie Weckerle, Eléonora Molinaro, Laura Palumbo, Onalee Wagner and Lucie Rabiot to represent Luxembourg.

This marks the first Billie Jean King Cup nomination for seventeen-year-old Onalee Wagner. She claimed her second career title on the ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors circuit at the J30 Maputo tournament in Mozambique in February 2025.

"We are trying to build a new team with young, promising players. We have a few who are playing on the ITF Junior Tour and have been able to show some good results this year. So that’s actually positive - it’s promising. The goal is to build a new team and give them the opportunity to gain experience. I think if we manage to do so, we can have a more and more competitive team in the future,” said Claudine Schaul in an interview with Chronicle.lu during the official announcement on Friday 25 April 2025. She added: ”I’m not saying it’s not competitive now, but it’s a new team that has to grow together, and that’s the main goal. If we manage to do that, then the results will come.”
