On Wednesday 18 June 2025, the SEAT Luxembourg Billie Jean King Cup team lost to Finland on the third day of Europe Group III competition in Chisinau, Moldova.

In the first singles match, Eléonora Molinaro lost 2-6, 4-6 to Laura Hietaranta. Both players served three aces, but the Finnish opponent proved more efficient overall, winning 79 points to Molinaro’s 59. Despite Molinaro having more break opportunities (twelve compared to two), she converted just one, while Hietaranta capitalised on four. The Luxembourg player also committed more double faults (four to two) and ultimately struggled to match her opponent’s consistency on key points.

The second singles match saw Luxembourg’s top player, Marie Weckerle, fall 3-6, 3-6 to Finland’s Anastasia Kulikova. Both players recorded a high number of double faults, with a combined total of twelve, but Kulikova was more effective in key moments. She converted six of eleven break points and won 71 points overall compared to Weckerle’s - 52.

Luxembourg lost 0-2 to Finland, with the doubles match not played. The FLT women’s team is scheduled to return to action on Thursday 19 June 2025 against the other second-placed teams from the Europe Group III phase, with Malta confirmed as one of their next opponents and another team to be announced.
