On Saturday, 12 July 2025, the finals of the Luxembourg Tennis Federation’s (FLT) national interclub championship, the SEAT League, took place in the Senior Women’s and Senior Men’s categories.
The final’s championship matches were held at the Norstad Tennis Club in Ettelbruck. In the women’s final, Tennis Spora faced TC Arquebusiers in a repeat of the 2024 final, with the current champions once again meeting their previous-year opponents. In the men’s final, TC Arquebusiers (the 2024 runners-up) competed against TC Schifflange, ensuring that a new champion would be crowned this year, as last year’s title holders, Tennis Spora, did not reach the final.
FLT President, Claude Lamberty, highlighted the importance of the SEAT League, describing it as the biggest event in the national tennis calendar for clubs in Luxembourg. He noted that 53 clubs take part in the Interclub competition each year, with typically four to six teams emerging as title contenders.
“We have our national players here, so I saw Alex Knaff, I saw Mandy Minella and Eleonora Molinaro. You have our best players playing for the clubs for a national title, so it’s an important meeting also for them to come here and to represent the club in Luxembourg,” he told Chronicle.lu.
Among those watching the final was Luxembourg’s top-ranked tennis player, Chris Rodesch (ATP #163), who recently made his Grand Slam main draw debut at Wimbledon. He was seen wearing a support brace on his right leg. Rodesch told Chronicle.lu that he sustained the injury after returning from the United Kingdom. The issue is not serious, and he expects to resume training in the coming weeks.
“Recovery will take a few weeks. My plan is to play the qualifying rounds in Cincinnati [ATP Masters 1000 Cincinnati], and then I will probably play in Cancun [ATP Challenger Tour 125] or in South Carolina [Serve First Open ATP Challenger 125]. After that, I will play the US Open,” said Chris Rodesch.
In the women’s final, Tennis Spora successfully defended their title despite trailing 1-3 after the four singles matches. The team made a strong comeback by winning both doubles encounters against TC Arquebusiers, earning two points for each and securing a 5-3 overall victory.
