"First of all, the level was very high. The final was decided by just a few points in a match tie-break. Everything was perfect, even the weather for playing a real SEAT League final. All four finalists were very strong teams, so I'm happy today,” said Claude Lamberty, President of the Luxembourg Tennis Federation (FLT).
In a comment to Chronicle.lu, he also spoke about the recent appointment of Gilles Muller as the FLT's new National Technical Director, saying the former world No. 21 would play a leading role in the federation's sporting decisions while working more closely with Luxembourg's tennis clubs. "He's not Superman, but he will be very good for the Luxembourg Tennis Federation," he said.
Looking ahead, Claude Lamberty noted that the Luxembourg Individual Championships will take place next week before attention turns to the Davis Cup tie against Hungary in September. He described the upcoming encounter as "a tough match", but said Luxembourg had "a big chance" of progressing. Claude Lamberty also highlighted the current generation of Luxembourg players, including Chris Rodesch, Alex Knaff and Marie Weckerle, expressing confidence that the federation would continue to develop both established professionals and emerging young talent.
