The City of Luxembourg (Ville de Luxembourg - VdL) has announced an open day at the Grund community garden on Saturday 11 October 2025.
The event, taking place from 14:00 to 17:00 in the presence of member gardeners and municipal staff involved in the project, will offer visitors the chance to learn more about the initiative’s environmentally responsible approach to plant cultivation and its role as both a growing space and a place for community exchange, according to VdL.
The programme will include a guided tour of the garden with opportunities to speak with member gardeners, tastings of dishes prepared using produce grown on site and activities for children.
The garden is located at the junction of Rue St Ulric and Montée de la Pétrusse and can be reached via AVL bus lines 23 and 29 (Stadsgronn-Bréck, Al Molkerei stops). Entry is free and no registration is required.
A community garden (distinct from allotment or municipal gardens) is cultivated and managed by residents of the same neighbourhood based exclusively on ecological principles - without pesticides, chemical fertilisers or genetically modified organisms. VdL supports these efforts by offering regular ecological gardening training in collaboration with agronomists and biologists from CIGL Esch.
