The University of Luxembourg (Uni.lu) held its annual Open Day on its Belval campus on Saturday 14 March 2026.

According to the university, this year's Open Day attracted more visitors than in 2025: nearly 5,500 people (students, pupils and families) travelled to Esch-Belval - despite strong winds - to explore study programmes, campus facilities and student life.

"It's always an exciting moment to meet the future generation of students. This strong turnout highlights the growing attractiveness of our university and reflects the increasing interest in the opportunities it offers," stated Prof Jens Kreisel, Rector of the University of Luxembourg.

University students and staff welcomed the visitors, offering comprehensive information and guided tours of biomedical and engineering laboratories, the Luxembourg Learning Centre, medical simulation teaching units and the iconic blast furnaces.

While many Uni.lu Open Day visitors come from Luxembourg, an increasing number are coming from neighbouring countries or further away.

The University of Luxembourg highlighted the attendance of a Latvian family on holiday in Brussels, who made a day trip to Belval: Michael and Alexandra came with their children Andrew and Sofia, accompanied by Andrew's girlfriend Arina. While Andrew is interested in economics, Arina is considering cultural history studies. "I discovered the University of Luxembourg through social media posts," Andrew explained. "We really liked how modern it looks and the variety of courses on offer. French is required for the Bachelors, so perhaps I won't register now. But I definitely want to do my master here."
