Details:
From Sunday 28 September to Sunday 12 October 2025, LUGA Lab will host Island 2.0, an immersive exhibition by the Eddi van Tsui collective exploring Tuvalu’s unprecedented response to rising sea levels - becoming the world’s first digital nation.
Conceived as a visual, sound and reflective experience, the exhibition will feature an opening event on 28 September, daily public access over two weeks and a closing event on 12 October, offering opportunities to meet the artists, attend performances and engage in dialogue on the issues raised by the work.
Island 2.0 focuses on Tuvalu, the first country under threat of disappearing due to rising sea levels caused by climate change. In response, the Pacific archipelago has opted for an unprecedented approach: becoming the world’s first digital nation by transferring its territory and institutions to the metaverse, in the hope of preserving its sovereignty, culture and traditions.
Developed over several months of interdisciplinary research, the project seeks to examine the identity, environmental, economic and legal challenges raised by this digital response, as well as the invisible connections shaping contemporary realities.
The exhibition will be open on regular days from 11:00 to 18:00.
