On Thursday 29 May 2025, Day 3 of competition at the Games of the Small States of Europe (GSSE) in Andorra concluded with Team Lëtzebuerg having collected a total of 59 medals, including 18 gold, 18 silver and 20 bronze.
Day 2 of the Games saw a series of strong performances by Luxembourg’s athletes across several disciplines. The women’s basketball 3x3 team secured gold with a 19-15 win over Malta, led by Mikayla Ferenz who contributed thirteen points and four rebounds.
In karate, Pola Giorgetti won gold in the women’s kumite -68kg final after defeating Stella Sprenger of Liechtenstein 4-0.
Luxembourg’s swimmers added two gold medals. Finn Kemp won the men’s 200m breaststroke in 2:15.60 and the men’s 4x200m freestyle relay team, composed of Ralph Daleiden Ciuferri, Anton Fedoseev, Julien Henx and Florian Frippiat, claimed victory in 7:34.97. The national team also secured four silver and two bronze medals in other swimming events.
Table tennis player Sarah De Nutte clinched gold in the women’s singles final, overcoming Maria-Carmelia Iacob in five sets with scores of 11-8, 8-11, 11-6, 10-12 and 11-2.
In artistic gymnastics, Luxembourg added five more medals on Day 2, with two silver and three bronze.
On Day 3, Vera Hoffmann Ep. Bertemes won gold in the women’s 1500m final with a time of 4:22.62.
In swimming, Luxembourg’s Finn Kemp won gold in the men’s 200m breaststroke with a time of 2:15.60, while the national team also topped the podium in the men’s 4x200m freestyle relay. In addition, Luxembourg added four silver and two bronze medals across other swimming events.
In mountain bike cycling, Liv Wenzel secured silver in the women’s cross-country event with a finishing time of 1:12:10. Luxembourg also earned bronze in the women’s team judo competition after a 2-1 win over Montenegro.
Thus, ahead of Day 4, Luxembourg stood in third place in the medal table, behind Cyprus and Iceland.
