On Wednesday 9 July 2025, Luxembourg's Minister for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs, Xavier Bettel, participated in the launch ceremony of fourteen projects led by thirteen Luxembourg non-governmental development organisations (NGDOs).

According to Luxembourg's Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Defence, Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade, these projects will receive financial support from Luxembourg’s Development Cooperation and will be implemented in eleven countries: Peru, Madagascar, Senegal, Cape Verde, South Africa, Burkina Faso, Mozambique, Togo, Vietnam, India and Nepal.

The ministry said the launch event provided an opportunity to engage with NGDO representatives and to recognise their "crucial commitment" to sustainable development and international solidarity.

In his speech, Minister Bettel stated: "NGDOs are responsible for implementing 15% of Luxembourg's official development assistance. Their commitment is essential, particularly in a context where international solidarity appears to be weakening. These organisations are often present in areas where Luxembourg does not have diplomatic representation, and they work closely with the populations most in need. They embody Luxembourg's outstretched hand in helping the most disadvantaged."

The thirteen Luxembourg NGDOs supported are: Œuvre CGFP d'Aide au Développement; Life Project 4 Youth Luxembourg; Pharmaciens Sans Frontières Luxembourg; Enfants Défavorisés de l'Île de Madagascar; SOS Sahel International Luxembourg; Athénée Action Humanitaire; Aide au Vietnam asbl; Iles de Paix Luxembourg asbl; TSARA FO Aide pour Madagascar; Hand an Hand; Wega; Cap Vert Espoir & Développement; Amicale Internationale d'Aide à l'Enfance.
