On Monday 9 March 2026, Luxembourg's Prime Minister Luc Frieden and Minister of Finance Gilles Roth travelled to Dublin for an exchange of views with the Taoiseach (Prime Minister) of Ireland, Micheál Martin, and the Tánaiste (Deputy Prime Minister) and Minister for Finance, Simon Harris.
According to Luxembourg's Ministry of State and Ministry of Finance, the working visit took place in the context of the upcoming Irish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, which will run from July to December 2026. It provided an opportunity to discuss key current European and international issues in a spirit of close cooperation.
Discussions focused on the next steps in ongoing efforts to strengthen the competitiveness of the European Union, notably in the field of financial services.
The working visit follows that of Taoiseach Micheál Martin to Luxembourg in July 2025.
