On Friday 4 July 2025, the Ettelbruck Agricultural Fair (FAE), Luxembourg’s largest open-air fair, officially opened, welcoming hundreds of visitors.
The fair, which will run until Sunday 6 July 2025, has been hosted in Ettelbruck for 40 years and this year celebrates its anniversary in partnership with the Luxembourg Urban Garden (LUGA) open-air exhibition, blending traditional agriculture with the latest innovations in sustainability and green urban planning.
The opening day saw a lively atmosphere with visitors enjoying an assortment of stands selling local food products, such as ice cream and cheeses, various craft items and a variety of agricultural equipment. A number of animals were also on display, including chickens, cows, rabbits and donkeys, creating a rural experience for attendees to enjoy.
Chronicle.lu talked to Head of the Representation of the EU Commission to Luxembourg, Anne Calteux, who explained that the presence of the Commission was to provide support for Luxembourg’s food and agriculture sectors. The Commission’s dedicated stand at the event provided information to visitors on their work in the food and agriculture sector, such as helping to define food labelling standards and representatives of the Commission were on hand to take questions about their work from curious attendees.
Chronicle.lu also talked to spokesperson at Luxembourg’s Water Management Authority (Administration de la gestion de l'eau - AGE), Frank Grotz, who described the authority’s efforts in maintaining the high quality of tap water in the Grand Duchy and explained their work with the management of fish stocks in Luxembourg’s river network.
