Luxembourg’s National Museum of Resistance and Human Rights in Esch-sur-Alzette has announced a photo exhibition by two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Lynsey Addario, running from Saturday 7 March until 20 December 2026.
The exhibition titled “Women in War” will offer a retrospective insight into more than 20 years of work by the American photojournalist Lynsey Addario, highlighting the diverse experiences women face in war and conflict situations. Through a selection of images, visitors can explore territories and communities affected by conflict in the Middle East, Africa and other regions.
The exhibition follows a clear thread, highlighting women’s lives in wartime, motherhood in conflict zones, survival in crisis regions, and dignity and resilience in the face of destruction and violence.
Alongside the exhibition, the museum will organise events, workshops, guided tours and a photo competition, with the programme also including educational activities focusing on photojournalism, human rights and the role of women in conflict zones.
Lynsey Addario is an American photojournalist who has covered conflicts, humanitarian crises and issues affecting women for the United States (US) media outlets The New York Times and National Geographic. Since 11 September 2001, she has reported from Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, Libya, Lebanon, Darfur, South Sudan, Somalia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Yemen, Syria and Ukraine.
The photojournalist has received internationally recognised awards, including a MacArthur Fellowship and two Pulitzer Prizes for foreign reporting. She has also been recognised by American Photo as one of the five most influential photographers of the past 25 years. Her work includes the bestseller It’s What I Do, which chronicles her life and career as a conflict photojournalist.
The museum noted that Lynsey Addario will visit the exhibition several times following the opening, with dates to be confirmed.
