Luxembourg-based photographer and visual artist Tetiana Popyk, also known as Tanita, has been selected to participate in "SURVIVAL RITUALS", an international exhibition taking place during Basel Art Week 2026 in Basel, Switzerland.
The exhibition will run from Sunday 14 to Sunday 21 June 2026 at Basel Art Center as part of Basel Art Week, which brings together collectors, curators, critics, galleries and cultural institutions from around the world. "SURVIVAL RITUALS" explores life in a world shaped by ongoing crises and transformation, focusing on the concept of liminality, a state of being between old and emerging realities, noted the artist.
Tetiana Popyk will present works from her series "Mexico Fragments", which examines personal and collective identity through photography and collage. The series combines photographic imagery with symbolic elements and explores themes including belonging, memory, cultural heritage and the relationship between individuals and wider social structures.
Commenting on her participation, Tetiana Popyk said: "Participating in Basel Art Week represents an important opportunity to share my work with an international audience of collectors, curators, galleries and art professionals. As an artist working from Luxembourg, I am proud to contribute to the visibility of the country's contemporary art scene on an international platform."
Over recent years, Tetiana Popyk’s work has appeared in international exhibitions and was featured in the publication 100 Ukrainian Photographers of Contemporary Art, presented at Photo Basel in 2024. Her recent projects include the solo exhibition "BeComing in Luxembourg" in April 2026 and the group exhibition "Identities: When Fashion Meets Photography" at Château de Bourglinster in May 2026.
Born in Ukraine and now based in Luxembourg, Tetiana Popyk's artistic practice explores identity, transformation, cultural memory and contemporary human experience through photography, mixed media and conceptual visual narratives.
