Ahead of Luxembourg Art Week 2026, the organisers hosted a press conference on Wednesday 14 October 2026 at Casino Luxembourg in Luxembourg-Ville.
The press conference, led by Director of Luxembourg Art Week Mélanie de Jamblinne, detailed the calendar for the upcoming twelfth edition of the annual art festival, and featured contributions from Deputy Mayor of Luxembourg City Maurice Bauer, board member at artcontemporain.lu Asbl Alex Reding and director of Casino Luxembourg Kevin Mulhen.
The 2026 edition of Luxembourg Art Week takes place from Friday 20 to Sunday 22 November, with the main exhibition located on the Champ du Glacis in Luxembourg-Limpertsberg. The fair will feature 78 exhibitors from fifteen countries, 22 of whom are taking part in the fair for the first time and international exhibitors will make up 78% of the works on display - an increase of almost 10% compared with 2025.
The main exhibition will consist of two parts: the main section hosting art from 57 galleries and the “Take Off” area, which is dedicated to young galleries and emerging talent, and will feature works from 21 exhibitors and five projects and institutions.
Mélanie de Jamblinne detailed that this year’s edition of Luxembourg Art Week will place photography at the centre of the edition through “Focus Photo”, a consists of a walk which runs through the main exhibition and highlights the diversity of practices linked to the medium. Several stands will also be devoted entirely to photography.
The organisers said the focus on photography generates a particular resonance in Luxembourg due to the country’s deep historical ties to the medium, notably through the figure of Edward Steichen, as well as initiatives such as Clervaux – Cité de l’image, the European Month of Photography Luxembourg, Lët’z Arles and the Luxembourg Photography Award.
Additionally, this year’s Art Week will extend “off-site” with a dedicated Art Walk, which runs from Wednesday 14 October through to Sunday 22 November. Supported by the City of Luxembourg (VdL) the walk brings contemporary art into public spaces and consists of a mix of sculptures and temporary installations distributed across Luxembourg City.
A number of exhibitions, performances and interactions will also be hosted at galleries and art centres both in the capital and across the country, transforming Luxembourg Art Week into a national celebration of artistic culture. These include a series of art talks which will bring together artists, curators, collectors, critics, researchers and experts to explore the shaping of contemporary creations and the art market.
The 2026 edition of Luxembourg Art Week will also see the launch of the Contemporary Art Prize, supported by Societe Generale Private Banking Luxembourg. The prize will recognise an artwork presented at the fair and is intended to highlight artistic practices from the Greater Region and the Benelux.
An independent jury will select an artwork presented at the fair from among the shortlisted entries, which will then enter the Societe Generale Luxembourg Art Collection. The award ceremony will take place on the afternoon of Thursday 19 November during the Luxembourg Art Week Preview.
Maurice Bauer remarked: “I believe that Art Week is really something that the City of Luxembourg loves to support. It allows citizens, who are either interested and passionate about culture, or simply a passer-by, to do something a little different and discover, such as through the Art Walk, public space as a gallery of art.”
