The Luxembourg Durgotsav Association (LuxUtsav) has announced that it will host the Durga Puja from Friday 16 to Tuesday 20 October 2026 at Salle Um Duerf in Itzig (3 Rue de Hesperange).
This year marks the eighth year of the association bringing this vibrant Indian festival to Luxembourg.
Durga Puja, also known as Durgotsava or Sharodotsav, is an annual festival originating in the Indian subcontinent which reveres and pays homage to the Hindu goddess Durga; it is particularly celebrated in the Eastern Indian states of West Bengal, Tripura, Bihar, Jharkhand, eastern Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Odisha and by Hindus in Bangladesh. Durga Puja is a ten-day festival, of which the last five are the most significant.
For the past seven years, the festival has welcomed visitors from Luxembourgish, French, German, Belgian, Italian, Middle Eastern and numerous other communities, attracting around 300 visitors daily.
“From the fragrance of dhuno (aromatic incense) to the visual poetry of Dhunuchi Naach (traditional incense dance), this is not just a festival; it is an emotional homecoming far away from home,” said LuxUtsav.
According to the organisers, visitors can enjoy quintessential Bengali Adda (lively conversations), vibrant cultural performances, music, dance and delicious Indian cuisine. Working hand in hand with LuxUtsav President Rahul Dey and General Secretary Manas Sarkar, nine committee coordinators and over 40 families have come together to bring the celebration to life.
LuxUtsav emphasised that guests from all backgrounds are welcome to share in rituals, cultural performances and festivities.
