The Grand Ducal Police have reported that officers were called out more than 60 times across the country on the night of Sunday 22 to Monday 23 June 2025, due to various disturbances and disputes on the eve of Luxembourg's National Day.
In most cases, the situation had already deescalated by the time the police arrived. However, in two separate domestic violence incidents, one case resulted in a referral issued by order of the public prosecutor and the other involved a report for making death threats.
At around midnight, an altercation occurred at a bar in the Upper Town of Luxembourg City. Two individuals were injured and taken to hospital for medical examination.
At approximately 05:20, the police received reports of an argument involving about 20 people in the Rives de Clausen area. Upon arrival at the scene, officers encountered an agitated group of people arguing with security personnel. The police intervened and separated the brawlers as the situation threatened to escalate; fights broke out. Additional police patrols were deployed to the scene for reinforcements and the situation was brought under control as the crowd gradually dispersed.
In Differdange, police found an intoxicated man who had reportedly argued with another person and was harassing passersby. He was placed in a holding cell.
In Luxembourg-Gare, police received reports of an intoxicated man who was disturbing the peace and subsequently broke an apartment window. The man was also detained.
During a parade in Dudelange on Sunday evening, another intoxicated man is said to have repeatedly forced his way into the procession, disrupting participants. The man reportedly ignored several requests to leave and attempted to assault police officers as they escorted him out. The man was restrained and, following a medical examination, was placed in a sobering-up cell.
Another intoxicated man was detained after harassing visitors and disturbing public order during the National Day festivities in Esch-sur-Alzette.
