Luxembourg's Governmental Hydrological Service (AGE) has issued an orange alert in relation to the risk of flooding from the morning of Wednesday 24 September 2025, through to midnight.

The warning is valid across Luxembourg, in particular to the central and northern regions of the country.

During this period, continuous rainfall is expected, with accumulations estimated between 20 and 40 l/m². The intensity of the precipitation is expected to decrease during the second part of the night.

AGE noted that following recent heavy rainfall, water levels have already risen significantly in the southern part of the country. On the Alzette River, the measurement stations at Hesperange, Pfaffenthal and Steinsel are expected to exceed the orange alert threshold before noon, with maximum levels anticipated in the afternoon. They added that for the measurement stations at Mersch and Ettelbruck, exceeding this threshold cannot be ruled out.
