The Grand Ducal Police have announced they conducted extensive alcohol level checks between Friday 26 and Saturday 27 September 2025, in Hautcharage and Foetz.

The operation took place at the request of the Public Prosecutor, in accordance with Article 12, paragraph 3, subparagraph 8 of the amended law of 14 February 1955 on traffic regulations on public roads.

The police reported that on Friday from 22:15 to 23:45, police officers conducted roadside alcohol breath tests in both directions on Avenue de Luxembourg in Hautcharage. In total, 309 drivers were subjected to a preliminary breath test, even in the absence of any serious indicators. Five tests returned positive results and officers filed three formal reports. However, no driving licences were withdrawn.

In the early hours of Saturday, between 00:45 and 02:15, police officers conducted similar checks on Rue du Brill in Foetz. In total, 116 drivers were subjected to a preliminary breath test, even in the absence of any serious indicators. Seven tests returned positive results. Officers filed five formal reports and withdrew two driving licences at the scene.
