
The Grand Ducal Police have announced they conducted alcohol level checks on Friday 26 and Saturday 27 September 2025, in Hesperange and Luxembourg City.
The operation took place at the request of the State Prosecutor, in accordance with Article 12, paragraph 3, subparagraph 8 of the amended law of 14 February 1955 on traffic regulations on public roads.
On Friday, from 22:30 to 23:30, police officers conducted roadside alcohol breath tests in both directions on Rue de Gasperich in Hesperange and in the early hours of Saturday, from 00:30 to 01:30 on Boulevard Pierre Dupong and from 02:30 to 03:30 on Rue de Beggen in Luxembourg City, similar checks were carried out.
In total, 171 drivers were subjected to a preliminary breath test, even in the absence of any serious indicators.
Two tests returned positive results and officers filed two formal reports. Two driving licences were withdrawn at the scene.
