On Friday 17 October 2025, Luxembourg's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Xavier Bettel, hosted the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Latvia, Baiba Braže, for a working visit.
According to Luxembourg's Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Defence, Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade, this visit is part of the ongoing strengthening of relations between the two countries, particularly following the state visit to Latvia in March 2023, which marked 100 years of diplomatic relations, followed by Minister Bettel's official visit to Latvia in July 2024.
Minister Bettel and his Latvian counterpart discussed key bilateral issues, including the potential for economic cooperation. They spoke about the development of cooperation in space and satellite technologies, which the ministry said was a particularly important area in the context of strengthening Europe's strategic autonomy and capabilities.
The two ministers also discussed major international issues, with Minister Bettel reaffirming the importance of a strong and united European Union on the international stage.
As part of her stay in Luxembourg, Minister Braže visited the European Court of Auditors, met with SES and the satellite operator GovSat and held discussions with the Latvian community in Luxembourg, which counts nearly 800 members.
