On Saturday 18 October 2025, the Grand Ducal Police reported the arrest of two individuals in relation to recent SUV thefts.

Just two days after the arrest of a first criminal group specialising in the theft of high-end vehicles, the relevant department of the judicial police department successfully intercepted a second group of criminals.

For several months, the country has been facing a surge in SUV thefts committed by highly specialised international networks, noted the police. As part of a joint operation conducted with the Public Prosecutor's Office, the Luxembourg investigating office and the special police unit, judicial police investigators managed to identify and intercept a second group of criminals.

Targeted surveillance measures enabled the suspects to be detected as they drove across the country in search of their next target. Caught in the act, two individuals were arrested attempting to steal an SUV. The searches led to the seizure of an arsenal of electronic equipment used to unlock and start vehicles.

At this stage of the investigation, the two suspects are believed to have been involved in the theft of at least eight vehicles in Luxembourg, as well as in several other thefts committed abroad.
