The Grand Ducal Police have reported that on Saturday 8 November 2025, a man was arrested following a mugging and altercation with police officers in Pétange.

According to the initial information, on Saturday evening the police received a report from a person who had had their mobile phone stolen in Pétange.

During the search, police officers located a person in the surrounding area who was strongly suspected of involvement in the offence. When they attempted to check him and instructed the man to empty his pockets, he behaved in an extremely uncooperative manner and put up significant resistance. During a body search, stolen property was found on the man and was secured.

When the officers then attempted to take him to the police station for further official procedures, he attacked and kicked them. His behaviour did not improve during the transport or at the police station.

On the instructions of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the man was arrested. A report was drawn up in relation to the theft and the resistance.
