The Grand Ducal Police have reported that a serious traffic accident occurred on the A3 motorway early on Saturday 22 November 2025.

At around 04:00, several callers reported that a car had crashed into the back of a lorry on the A3 near the Croix de Bettembourg, heading towards France.

At the scene, authorities found that the car had driven under the lorry's trailer and the driver was trapped. The Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS) subsequently extricated the motorist, who had sustained life-threatening injuries. The driver received emergency medical treatment at the scene before being transported to the on-duty hospital.

In addition to the police and the CGDIS, the SAMU (emergency medical vehicle with a doctor on board) and the National Roads Administration were also present.

The technical police were on-site to determine the exact circumstances of the accident. Further investigations have been launched.

The A3 near the Croix de Bettembourg, in the direction of France, was closed to traffic until further notice to allow for cleanup and recovery work. A diversion route was put in place.
