On Friday 5 December 2025, the Grand Ducal Police reported several incidents that occurred during the evening of Thursday 4 December 2025 which involved traffic incidents where the drivers tested positive for alcohol or drugs.
On Thursday evening, police spotted a vehicle in Soleuvre travelling at excessive speed. Officers stopped the vehicle on Rue Dr Welter. While checking the passengers, the police detected the smell of cannabis inside the car. During a search, they found a small quantity of cannabis. The driver tested positive for drugs on site, and the officers recorded the incident.
Later the same evening, at approximately 20:20, a rear-end collision occurred between two cars on Rue de l’Usine in Rumelange. Police took both drivers to the hospital for checks. One driver tested positive for alcohol and the authorities confiscated his driving licence. The officers documented the accident.
Moreover, at approximately 23:00, another traffic accident occurred on Route d’Arlon in Strassen. Initial reports indicate that a motorcyclist travelling from Luxembourg towards Strassen likely rode onto a traffic island or pavement, causing him to fall. Emergency responders provided first aid on site and then took the rider to hospital for further treatment. The motorcyclist tested positive for alcohol and the police confiscated his driving licence.
