On Friday 19 December 2025, the Grand Ducal Police reported that during the evening of Thursday 18 December into Friday 19 December, several drivers failed alcohol tests during police checks.
According to the initial information, on Thursday evening, the police were alerted to a vehicle in Grevenmacher whose driver was showing clear signs of alcohol consumption. A police patrol located and stopped the driver shortly afterwards. An alcohol test returned a positive result and a provisional driving ban was issued.
On the same evening, the police in Kehlen were informed of a driver who was possibly under the influence of alcohol. It was also discovered that the driver no longer held a valid driving licence. The driver underwent an alcohol test, which was positive, and a report was filed.
In the night leading into Friday, a police patrol conducting a speed check as part of the “Wanterzäit” campaign in Bridel noticed a vehicle travelling at excessive speed. The driver was stopped and checked, showing clear signs of alcohol consumption. The alcohol test returned a positive result, and the driving licence was confiscated.
