The Grand Ducal Police have reported that a man was arrested in Luxembourg City on Thursday 1 January 2026 in connection with two incidents of violent theft.
According to the police, at around 01:35, officers were alerted to a robbery on Rue Notre Dame, where two perpetrators became physically aggressive towards the victim and stole his chain. A short time later, a second theft was reported in the Ville Haute, during which another victim had his mobile phone stolen by several perpetrators.
As part of the investigation, police apprehended one of the suspects shortly afterwards. The individual could be linked to both incidents. On the orders of the public prosecutor’s office, the suspect was arrested and brought before an investigating judge.
