On Saturday 3 January 2026, the Grand Ducal Police reported multiple incidents relating to public disorder which occurred across the country on Friday 2 January.
According to the initial information, on Friday at approximately 15:30 police were notified of an aggressive individual in the entrance area of the hospital in Ettelbrück who refused to leave the premises. Upon the officers’ arrival, the person agreed to leave; however, due to their severe intoxication, they posed a danger to themselves and were placed in custody following a medical examination.
At around 20:00, an aggressive individual was reported in a bar on Rue Xavier Brasseur in Esch-sur-Alzette. The person accused the waitresses of having stolen their mobile phone and damaged the entrance door while leaving the establishment. The visibly heavily intoxicated individual could not be calmed by the officers and continued to threaten the staff. Due to disorderly conduct in a public place and their intoxicated state, it was decided to place the person in custody following a medical check.
A short time later, at approximately 21:00, an intoxicated individual was reported on a bus on Rue du Glacis in Luxembourg-Limpertsberg. The person fell while getting off the bus and sustained injuries. Upon the officers’ arrival, the individual refused treatment from the paramedics present at the scene and resisted both verbally and physically. Due to their intoxicated state and because they posed a danger to themselves and others, it was decided to place the person in custody. A report was drawn up for insulting and threatening police officers.
Then, at around 23:25, a police patrol reported a heavily intoxicated individual on Rue Bender in Luxembourg-Gare. When the officers stopped to check on the person’s welfare, the individual repeatedly struck the police vehicle and shouted loudly. During the identity check, the person behaved aggressively towards the officers and had to be restrained. Due to their intoxicated state and because they posed a danger to themselves and others, the person was placed in custody.
