The Grand Ducal Police have reported two drink-driving incidents which occurred in the early hours of Saturday 3 January 2026.
According to the police, at approximately 01:45 officers were notified of a traffic accident at the roundabout on Route d’Arlon in Strassen. According to initial information, the driver lost control of the vehicle for reasons which remain unclear while negotiating the roundabout. The vehicle struck the kerb and came to a halt on the adjacent embankment. The three occupants of the vehicle were taken to hospital for checks. An alcohol test carried out on the driver returned a positive result, whereupon their driving licence was confiscated.
A short time later, at around 03:20, a vehicle was reported on the A4 being driven erratically. The vehicle was stopped by officers in the area of Steinbrücken and the driver was checked. An alcohol test returned a positive result and a provisional driving ban was issued.
