The Grand Ducal Police have reported several incidents involving drink driving and a robbery with threats that occurred on Sunday 4 January 2026 across Luxembourg.

At around 11:30, police were alerted to an intoxicated driver in Rue des Gaulois in Luxembourg-Verlorenkost, who reportedly reversed his vehicle into a tree. A police patrol located the driver shortly afterwards. The alcohol test returned a positive result and a provisional driving ban was issued.

Later in the afternoon, at around 17:25, a police patrol on the A13 in the direction of Esch-sur-Alzette, near Kayl, noticed a driver due to dangerous driving. Officers pursued the vehicle and were able to stop it a short time later. The driver tested positive for alcohol and was issued with a provisional driving ban.

Shortly afterwards, at around 17:30, police were alerted to an intoxicated driver who was reportedly attempting to leave a car park in Luxembourg-Ville Haute. Officers located the man on site. The alcohol test returned a positive result and a provisional driving ban was issued. During the checks, the man behaved uncooperatively towards officers and insulted them. Due to his intoxicated state and the fact that he posed a danger to himself and others, he was taken into custody following a medical examination.

In a separate incident, during the morning of Sunday 4 January 2026, police were alerted to a robbery in Rue Glesener in the Luxembourg-Gare district, where, according to initial information, two perpetrators threatened the victim with a knife and stole his mobile phone and wallet. The suspects then fled the scene. An investigation has been launched.
