The Grand Ducal Police have reported that two incidents of public disorder on Tuesday 6 January 2026 resulted in the detention of two individuals in Luxembourg.
According to the police, at around 20:30, officers were alerted to a man near Place François-Joseph d’Argent in Luxembourg-Eich who was walking in the roadway and provoking passing motorists. A patrol located the visibly intoxicated individual at a petrol station. Due to his condition and the danger he posed to himself and others, he was detained following a medical examination. Further checks established that the man had also stolen several drinks from the petrol station, and a report was filed.
Later the same evening, at around 21:30, police were called to licensed premises in Luxembourg-Cents following reports of a man refusing to pay his bill. Officers found the visibly intoxicated individual on site, who behaved uncooperatively and verbally abused them. Owing to his state of intoxication and disturbance of public order, he was detained after undergoing a medical examination.
In a separate incident during the night of Wednesday 7 January 2026 at around midnight, police were alerted to a possibly intoxicated driver in Oberpallen. The driver, who showed clear signs of alcohol consumption, was located by a police patrol a short time later. The alcohol test returned a positive result and a provisional driving ban was issued.
