The Grand Ducal Police have reported two further incidents this week involving a robbery and suspected shoplifting in Luxembourg City.
At around 15:30 on Monday 12 January 2026, police were informed of a robbery in the Pfaffenthal district. The suspect threatened a woman with a knife before stealing a backpack and a waist bag (fanny pack). The victim was unharmed and the perpetrator initially fled the scene.
Later that same day, at around 18:45, police received a report of an altercation between a man and a woman at a bus stop on Côte d’Eich, during which the man allegedly struck the woman. Police located both individuals. During checks and a subsequent search at the police station, officers found various items on the man which, following further investigation, were linked to the earlier robbery in Pfaffenthal. On the orders of the public prosecutor's office, the suspect was arrested.
In a separate incident, on the afternoon of Tuesday 13 January 2026, police received a report of shoplifting at a store in Luxembourg City. According to initial information, one man distracted the cashier while a second man stole a jacket. A police patrol apprehended both suspects shortly afterwards. The stolen item was recovered from one of the suspects, who was also linked to additional thefts during the investigation. On the orders of the public prosecutor's office, both men were arrested and brought before an investigating judge.
These incidents follow previous police reports of criminal activity across the Grand Duchy.
