The Grand Ducal Police have reported the arrest of a suspected drug dealer following an incident in Esch-sur-Alzette.

According to the initial information, late on Tuesday 20 January 2026, a police patrol on Rue Boltgen in Esch-sur-Alzette noticed two men after officers detected the smell of cannabis. Both individuals were subsequently subjected to a police check.

During a body search of one of the men, officers discovered drugs. A subsequent search of his residence led to the seizure of additional cash. The drugs and cash were confiscated.

Police said that during the official procedures, the suspect behaved uncooperatively and became physically aggressive towards officers, resulting in two police officers sustaining minor injuries.

On the orders of the public prosecutor’s office, the suspected drug dealer was arrested and brought before an investigating judge on the morning of Wednesday 21 January 2026. A report for resisting arrest was filed.
