The Grand Ducal Police have reported that one person died following a road accident on Monday 26 January 2026.
The fatal traffic accident occurred at around 12:30 on the N8 in Reckange (Mersch).
According to initial information, a car driver lost control of his vehicle for reasons that remain unclear, crossed into oncoming traffic and first collided with another car before crashing into a bus.
Despite resuscitation attempts, the 35-year-old driver died at the scene. The driver of the second car, the bus driver and four bus passengers were taken to hospital for medical checks.
The public prosecutor’s office tasked the forensic and criminal investigation unit with determining the cause of the accident.
The road was closed to traffic for the duration of the rescue and clearance operations.
