On Thursday 7 May 2026, the Grand Ducal Police reported on joint traffic checks undertaken with French Police near Belval on Wednesday 6 May.

According to the initial information, on Wednesday afternoon the Grand Ducal Police carried out a large-scale traffic check with their French colleagues on the Liaison Micheville between the Belval and Audun-le-Tiche roundabouts.

A total of 39 offences against the Highway Code were recorded on Luxembourg territory.

Among these, ten drivers had exceeded the permitted speed limit by a maximum of 20 km/h (€49 fine).

In eleven cases, the maximum permitted speed limit was exceeded by more than 20 km/h, resulting in the drivers receiving chargeable warnings (€145 fine and two points).

In one case, a formal report had to be issued after the driver was recorded travelling at 110 km/h.

In two cases, driving licences were confiscated at the scene after the drivers were recorded travelling at 117 km/h and 120 km/h respectively instead of the permitted 70 km/h.

Furthermore, in nine cases, chargeable warnings were issued due to deficiencies in vehicle documentation and in two cases due to technical defects with the vehicle.

Moreover, one driver received a chargeable warning for using a mobile telephone while driving and another because a child in the vehicle was not properly restrained.

A total of six vehicles had to be towed away during the traffic check.
