On Wednesday 21 October 2026, the Grand Ducal Police issued a warning following several reported fraud cases involving fake LuxTrust links.
According to the police, victims received calls from unknown numbers, with callers claiming that someone had withdrawn a large amount of money using their bank card, that they had fallen victim to cyber fraud or that there were problems with their bank account.
The callers then instructed victims to verify their login details by following a link sent via SMS. The link directed them to a fraudulent website imitating LuxTrust, where they were prompted to enter their LuxTrust credentials.
Police reminded the public that banks and public authorities do not operate in this manner and will never ask customers to hand over bank cards or login credentials to strangers or disclose personal information over the telephone.
Anyone unsure whether a call is fraudulent should avoid acting under pressure and contact the relevant bank or organisation directly through its official communication channels.
Police also encouraged residents to inform older people in their surroundings about this type of scam and the associated risks.
Anyone who has suffered financial losses as a result of such fraud is advised to contact their nearest police station.
