On Wednesday 21 October 2026, the City of Luxembourg (Ville de Luxembourg - VdL) announced the eighth edition of its Christmas shop window decoration competition, organised in cooperation with the Union Commerciale de la Ville de Luxembourg (UCVL).
The competition, held under the theme 'Make it Merry!', will take place from Tuesday 1 to Thursday 31 December 2026. It aims to bring a festive atmosphere to the capital through creative and original Christmas window displays. The competition is open to all retailers operating across the capital’s 24 districts.
A jury will evaluate the participating shop windows based on their overall appearance, technical execution, originality, creativity and the integration of products sold by the shops into the decorations. Three joint winners will each receive a €2,000 grant from the VdL.
In addition, between Thursday 10 to Thursday 31 December 2026, the public will be able to vote for their favourite from window display online at www.concours-cityshopping.lu. The shop receiving the most votes will be awarded €2,000, while one participant in the public vote will be selected in a prize draw to receive a €200 shopping voucher.
