Luxembourg’s Athletics Federation (Fédération Luxembourgeoise d'Athlétisme - FLA) has announced the three athletes who will represent the Grand Duchy at the World Athletics Indoor Championships 2026, taking place in Toruń (Poland) from Friday 20 to Sunday 22 March 2026.

Patrizia Van der Weken will compete in the women’s 60m. The 26-year-old recorded the third-best performance in the world in 2026 with a national record of 7.01 seconds and won the bronze medal at the 2025 World Athletics Indoor Championships.

Victoria Rausch will compete in the women’s 60m hurdles. The 29-year-old achieved her best result of the 2026 indoor season at the CMCM Luxembourg Indoor Meeting in mid-January, where she set a new national record of 8.08 seconds.

Vera Bertemes-Hoffmann will line up in the women’s 1500m. The 29-year-old competed twice over the distance during the 2026 indoor season, with her best time of 4:11.42 recorded in Erfurt (Germany). Her personal best on the short track remains 4:08.73, achieved at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Istanbul in 2023, where she finished eighth.

According to the FLA, Fanny Arendt had also achieved the qualification standard at the CMCM Luxembourg Indoor Meeting, where she set a national record. However, she had to withdraw from selection due to an injury sustained during a race at the end of February.

Competition Schedule:

Vera Bertemes-Hoffmann (1500m): Heats on Friday 20 March at 18:22; final on Sunday 22 March at 19:22 (subject to qualification).

Patrizia Van der Weken (60m): Heats on Saturday 21 March at 11:05; semi-finals and final on Saturday 21 March at 20:14 and 21:20 (subject to qualification).

Victoria Rausch (60m hurdles): Heats on Sunday 22 March at 12:55; semi-finals and final on Sunday 22 March at 18:52 and 20:13 (subject to qualification).

Last year, Luxembourg was represented at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Tokyo by Patrizia Van der Weken, Vera Bertemes-Hoffmann, Ruben Querinjean (3000m steeplechase) and Charel Grethen (1500m), who ended his career after the 2025 season. Without the injury to Fanny Arendt, the Grand Duchy’s representation in 2026 would have remained the same.
